Metres of edging: the maths

For each panel add up the edged sides, multiply by the quantity and add everything up. Allow 5 to 10% extra for trimmed ends and the edgebander. Example: 6 shelves of 760 × 300 mm edged on the front use 4.56 m, about 5 m with the allowance.

1650 × 820 720 × 560720 × 560650 × 560650 × 5601100 × 4501100 × 450540 × 4501100 × 3001100 × 3001100 × 220

When to deduct edging from the cutting size

Thin 0.4 mm edging is usually not deducted. 1 to 2 mm edging grows the panel: a 720 mm side with 2 mm edging on both ends ends up 724 mm. In Verneer you mark each side as deducted or not and the cutting size is corrected on the plan and label.
